About Me I am a 3rd generation carpenter, my grandfather was a cabinetmaker and my father a finishing contractor. From a young age I learned woodworking and all aspects of the interior finishing trade. When I decided to strike out on my own I began my professional life as a machinist, a skill I practiced for over 20 years. A successful journeyman machinist must have a natural mechanical aptitude, the ability to deliver exact precision products and work with a wide variety of different materials and hands-on problems solving abilities. The Aha Moment I purchased a fixer upper home. The days I spent working with my father and grandfather prepared me for the challenge of completely remodeling my home and found I loved it. Home improvement and repair became more than a hobby, it became my passion. As a journeyman machinist the skills I developed are invaluable when doing quality home remodeling and repair. I had found a new professional calling. I have a natural ability to fix, repair or remodel and I love doing it. The skills I acquired from working with my father and grandfather came rushing back to me. Change in Professions I already had a solid working knowledge of interior carpentry but I wanted to learn more. I started taking online classes, reading books and watching online how-to videos then applying what I learned working on my own house. Friends seeing my work would hire me to work on their homes. I would then be referred to their friends and neighbors. I realized there was a need for a skilled and affordable craftsman.
