Business Address: 9211 48 Street Northwest, Edmonton, AB, T6B 2R9 Work Location: Same as above and Various locations throughout the Province of Alberta Type of Employment: Full time – Seasonal / 7 months Estimated Start Date: Early May 2023 Job Description - Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade - Fill hollows and remove high spots to smooth freshly poured concrete - Operate power vibrator to compact concrete - Level top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications using straightedge or float - Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools - Instruct apprentices - Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete - Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete - Waterproof, damp proof, and restore concrete surfaces - Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of floors, walls, roads, and other concrete structures. - Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications - Chipping, cutting, and grinding of cured concrete - Install form work, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade Requirements: - Education: Some secondary school is required. - Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in the trade are required. If the candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, then a post-secondary education certificate is required OR completion of a two- to four-year apprenticeship program will help to qualify. - Experience with skidsteer is an asset - Driver’s License is an asset -Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling. From Monday to Friday, regular shifts could be 7-12 hours long depending on the tasks to be completed on the day. Shifts will be scheduled between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, On Saturdays, the workday will begin at 7:00 am and ends at 2:00 pm. Sunday work might be required. If the worker works 7 days a week, then in the next week the worker will only work 5 days a week.
